Bernard's Ducati TT3
By Anthony van Someren - 06 Nov 12
This breath-taking Ducati stormed onto the interweb a few days ago, appearing just about everywhere all at once, and while we prefer to be as unique as we can with out build features, we just had to include this bike in our Bike Shed archive for reference and inspiration for future builds, at the very least.
The bike has been taken far above and beyond its humble 900 SS roots by builder Bernard Mont, who put this this bike together and named it after British builder Jack DiFazio, who specialised in Hub steering, and provided the inspiration for it's this bike's most obvious feature - the funny front end.
The bike's frame has all the obvious mods to give it a stripped-down cafe look, and the engine has been upgraded and littered with the usual adornments beloved by Ducatisti world wide, with open clutch covers and belts, plus Lazer GP headers in Supertrapp endcans. The monoposto seat unit comes from Aermacchi.
Motogadget takes care of instrumentation, as per most uncompromising bike builds.
An Extreme Tech shock looks after the ride at the rear, while the complicated suspension setup at the front is taken care of by a pair of Ohlins - so, no compromise there, while a V11 Guzzi front wheel steers the bike through the hub. Add on the old school half fairing with the bright orange paintwork, and the overall effect is that of timeless engineering and a high tech bike with retro-tech vibe and looks that will never date. We can finally use the work Awesome in it's proper context. Great work Bernard... Thanks to True Biker Spirit and to Bernard for the photos. Read more about the bike on Bernard's own blog.
