Down & Out Street Twin Scrambler
By Ross Sharp - 16 Apr 16
Triumph Motorcycles took the covers off a stunning custom Street Twin at Bike Shed Paris 2016, being held at Les Docks Cite de la Mode et du Design this weekend.
The bike has been designed and built by Down and Out Café Racers in conjunction with Triumph and is based on the newly-launched, 900cc High Torque-engined Street Twin. Combining contemporary style with Triumph’s classically authentic Bonneville DNA, the Street Twin has proved a perfect starting point.
The statement look is achieved with a massive 150 section front tyre and 180 section rear. Brushed alloy front and rear guards give a hint of heritage, whilst internally-wired bars, complete with microswitch switchgear give modern clean lines. A mini Motogadget speedo adds to the cleanliness of the front end – mounted on the extra wide Down and Out yokes which provide the width to fit the massive front tyre. To further add to the unique stance the Street Twin is fitted with spoked wheels instead of the standard models’ cast wheel setup.
The bike features a handmade saddle, on a new three-quarter seat base created from scratch for this build. The classically-style frame loop echoes old-school Bonneville builds on this thoroughly modern, ABS-equipped custom. Finishing details include Down and Out micro-indicators, one-off black headlamp guard, sports levers and Down and Out chain guard.
A stunning candy orange and deep black livery completes the look of this stunning Street Twin. The bike will be on display at Bike Shed Paris 2016 all weekend before being returned to the UK.
