Steel Bent '77 CB550 "Inverted"
By Anthony van Someren - 24 Oct 12
Steel Bent Customs have created their own breed of brat style customs with super-slimline seats and batteries hidden by crafty ninjas, all conspiring to leave a featherweight look to the rear of their builds and creating a muscular stance to the front end, made even more chunky-looking by the use of flat-mounted slim headlamps. It's a look we love, and every so often we head back to their archive just to drool.
This bike nearly passed us by, but there it was, nestling between it's boldly coloured cousins, and as well as sporting a very tasteful pale powder blue colour scheme, it was also graced by solid 3 spoke wheels, an USD front end and monoshock-mounted box-section swinger.
"She was a project from a donor 1992 Suzuki GSXR front end, rear swing arm, and wheels merged with a stock 1977 Honda CB550. Custom-built seat, rewired electronics, custom 4 into 1 exhaust, kick or electric start, and mini speedometer.
She has been tuned, and screams with an intoxicating power band.
The bike was purchased by a guy in Miami and she will spend her days & nights cruising the south Florida streets."
Seriously guys; where is battery this time?
With the fat back tyre and GP style shortie end can this CB750 is definitely not run-of-the-mill when it comes to CeeBee SevenFiddy customs, and when you add in the SBC trademark skinny rear end it looks like the kinda bike owned by a guy with neck tattoos and annoyingly attractive girlfriend, well capable of riding around on a pale blue bike without losing his macho cool. This has gotta be one of our all time faves from SBC. ... and if you really wanna see where the battery is hidden click HERE.
