Dab Motors XSR900 'Alter'
By Ross Sharp - 19 Jun 18
We first reported on Simon from DAB Design early last year when his imaginative and innovative 3D design and printing bike building methods caught our attention. It didn't take long for the manufacturers to spot Simon's aptitude for producing something a bit different from the cut'n'loop cookie cutter norm and here's his first commission by Yamaha for their Yard Build series - under a new name DAB Motors.
The XSR900 is a really great motorcycle but is notoriously difficult bike to make handsome while adhering to the Yard Build rules of no frame cutting. Simon has added in order to take away, using SLS technology (Selective Laser Sintering). Which essentially means turning a pile of metal powder into cool structures using frickin laser beams. Click the images above to see the detail of the rear light and subframe. The translucent bodywork uses Simon's tried and test flax composite method - check here for an insight into this and the background behind Dab Motors.
Here's a vid and there's more info over on the Dab website
