The BSMC x RE Bomber Jacket is
based on the silhouette of the classic 1950’s MA1 Bomber Jacket, originally designed for US Air Force Pilots and rapidly appropriated by riders of all styles for its timeless look and simple functionality. Celebrating the BSMC X Royal Enfield collaboration, the gold lining is printed with a split map, one side Shoreditch and the other the surrounding area of the Royal Enfield factory in Chennai.
Before technology wiped out the best gig in town, Motorcycle Couriers used to own London’s streets. On every corner you would see a city-hardened rider, bag slung across their back, ready to carve traffic. The BSMC x RE Messenger bag is a throwback to the simple tarp bags those couriers favoured, with a pocket for everything, a removable waist strap and a subtle BSMC x RE patch.
Built for East London’s streets the BSMC x Royal Enfield 650 Interceptor with it’s fat 16” wheels, compact stance and stripped back nature has proportions too good not to print…so we did!
Front or side aspect, the BSMC x Royal Enfield 650 Interceptor has a presence that is hard to mistake. Inspired by the blueprints used in the machine’s original design process, the Aspect T-shirt features a hand drawn chest print of the bike that launched our collaboration.
Every road-going machine has one – a simple plate baring the unique identification number of that vehicle. Every vehicle has a story, and it begins with that number. The story of our collaboration began at the home plates of BSMC and RE, Shoreditch and Chennai. Our VIN plate Tee bares the coordinates of our homes, framed in the outline font–style of the Interceptor 650 VIN plate.
Our collaboration long sleeve Headlight Jersey bares a reduced iteration of our East London VIN plate graphic on the chest pocket and the frontal aspect of the BSMC x Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 on the back. Constructed from heavyweight 220gsm 100% Organic cotton our jersey is cut slim through the arm and long in the body, perfect to wear beneath your riding jacket.
VIN Plate Cap – Referencing the plate behind the headstock baring each machines’ unique vehicle identification number our VIN plate cap keeps things simple up-top with a Black and white embroidered patch
Aspect Cap - Inspired by the blueprints used in the original design process of the BSMC x Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, our Aspect cap features the front and side aspects of the machine that launched our collaboration
Motorcycles mean boots, and boots mean socks.
Pulling a few key design details from the BSMC x RE collaboration collection the Lightening Socks keep it simple at your south.
Born in England in 1901, Royal Enfield began building bikes in India in 1955 moving to entirely Indian-made machines by 1962. In taking on the mantle of these iconic bikes in that era, Royal Enfield somehow captured the enduring spirit of Great Britain while finding a new home in India. The company has since evolved to hold a place in the heart of the two nations with a shared provenance.
This dual Indian-British nationality has a natural place in East London, where food, culture and fashion from the South of Asia has taken root over generations, centred around Brick Lane, Bethnal Green and Shoreditch.
To celebrate this meeting between East & West in the world of motorcycle manufacturing , BikeShed and Royal Enfield have created a clothing and apparel collaboration that celebrates East London; a melting pot of East meets East, where Asia defines the tastes, smells, colours and sounds around the Bike Shed's club venue, alongside East London barrow-boys, markets, bakeries, butchers, pubs and workshops.
Some of the designs take inspiration from the Bike Shed x Royal Enfield collaboration bike build, co-designed by Royal Enfield's UK Design & Technology team and Bike Shed's Founder, Dutch, to be the perfect East London urban street bike. The collection also draws on the creative side of urban East London, exploring the art and style of the district in billboard, street and typography.
